BBC Dramedy Boarders Gets New Trailer for Tubi Release (EXCLUSIVE)

Tubi has released a trailer for “Boarders,” a British teen dramedy series the service acquired from BBC. The series will be branded as a Tubi Original in North America and premieres with all six hour-long episodes on March 8.

Per the official description, “‘Boarders’ is a high energy, warm and funny coming of age drama which follows lives of five Black inner city school teenagers who find themselves on scholarships to one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools, St. Gilberts. The series will these students navigate a new world, forming new friendships along the way while also going on journeys of self-discovery.”

The cast includes Josh Tedeku, Jodie Campbell, Myles Kamwendo, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Derek Riddell, Niky Wardley, Harry Gilby, Tallulah Greive, Rosie Graham, Georgina Sadler and Assa Kanoute.

“We have high standards at St. Gilberts. We expect every new pupil to uphold them,” a school official says in the trailer. “With that in mind, I want you all to make sure that our new students are made to feel right at home.” Throughout the trailer, the new kids are seen being stared at, photographed, taunted and occasionally supported by other St. Gilberts students.

“Boarders” is written by Daniel Lawrence Taylor with co-writers Emma Dennis-Edwards, Yemi Oyefuwa, and Ryan Calais Camero. Studio Lambert produces the series in association with All3Media International for the BBC. Executive producers include Taylor; Madeleine Sinclair and Susan Hogg for Studio Lambert; and Nawfal Faizullah and Ayela Butt for BBC. Ethosheia Hylton and Sarmad Masud serve as directors.

Taylor is best known as the creator and star of the ITV2 sitcom “Timewasters,” which at the BAFTAs received a nomination for best scripted comedy and earned Taylor the award for breakthrough Brit.
