Former Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan is rumored to be returning to the show as a replacement for David Walliams. Morgan judged on the show for the first four series, before Walliams joined the panel. The TV host has tweeted about possibly returning.

Piers Morgan Rumored to Replace David Walliams on BGT

In November, news broke of derogatory comments Walliams made about BGT contestants while filming the show in 2020. Since then, rumors have swirled that Walliams is quitting the show after 10 years. Piers Morgan responded to one of these reports on Twitter.

“Time to get the old band back together, @SimonCowell?” Morgan wrote, including a photo from his time on the panel with Cowell and Amanda Holden.

Fans have been wondering who might replace Walliams as a judge, and several names have been thrown around. One report stated that the favorite to take his place is comedian and The Masked Singer UK judge Mo Gilligan.

However, Morgan also seems to have thrown his hat in the ring. Interestingly, Morgan was rumored to be replacing Walliams as far back as 2020, when The Sun reported that Walliams’ contract would be expiring. Morgan joked that he would return “if enough Aston Martins were offered.”

Morgan Has Slammed Walliams in the Past

What makes Morgan’s possible return to BGT even more interesting is that he has spoken negatively about Walliams in the past. In November, he responded to reports of Walliams’ offensive remarks by tweeting, “Tip of the iceberg.. Walliams is one of the nastiest frauds in TV.”

And it wasn’t just the recent controversy that inspired such comments. Last May, Morgan tweeted, “Love the judging panel on @BGT – apart from David Walliams. All he does is drip & drool unctuously sycophantic drivel, and he’s soooooo creepy.”

Walliams recently appeared on the BGT judging panel alongside Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and guest judge Penn Jillette, on the special BGT: The Ultimate Magician. The special was pre-recorded before Walliams’ comments leaked.
