Londons Fuzz buzz
Pegg and Frost draw applause at premiere
Despite a downpour, the world premiere of Working Title’s “Hot Fuzz” was no washout.
Brit comic duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the team behind “Shaun of the Dead,” and director Edgar Wright drew huge applause from die-hard fans as they arrived Tuesday at Leicester Square.
The carpet was unconventionally blue to match the uniforms of the police officers, played by Pegg and Frost in the pic, which transposes the cliched Hollywood formula of police actioner buddy films like “Bad Boys 2” onto a sleepy English village. Inside the theater, attendees were kept amused, as the last stragglers came in from the cold, by deliberately amateurish blogs from the sometimes ramshackle “Hot Fuzz” shoot in rural England.
Guests including Thandie Newton and Rob Brydon made the short walk to the after-party at Leicester Square’s Sound nightspot. Cast members Paddy Considine, Timothy Dalton, Stephen Merchant and Edward Woodward were on hand to tubthump.
